Conservation work party

Meet in car park by football pitches off Maple Drive.

THIS IS 1 WEEK LATER THAN USUAL, BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE CLASHED WITH “BEDELANDS OPEN DAY”.

Bedelands Open Day

An informal leisurely walk exploring Bedelands, especially for some of you who still don’t know the reserve, guided by group members.

Meet in the car park by the football pitches off Maple Drive for a 2pm start.

Meadow Sweeping to Discover Minibeasts.

Led by Dominic, this is an informal fun event for all the family, sweeping the long grass with nets to catch, examine and identify various grasshoppers, crickets, shield bugs, butterflies, moths and other “minibeasts” that live among the grasses.

Bat, Glowworm and Moth walk.

Meet in the car park by the football pitches off Maple Drive for a 9pm start.

This is always a firm favourite.

After a guided walk led by a local bat expert to hear and see bats, we return via an area favoured by glowworms to view the many types of moths and other insects attracted to our moth trap and try to identify them. (All are released unharmed!)

Butterfly, Bird and Wildflower Walk

An informal leisurely walk along the open spaces along the southern edge of Burgess Hill to see what different species we can find. Led by group members.

Meet at the gate to Hammonds Ridge meadows off the roundabout opposite Tesco.

Children’s Safari

Meet by car park near football pitches off Maple Drive from 1.45pm for 2pm start.

This ever-popular annual event is a great fun day for children up to age 11, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Pond dipping, meadow sweeping, bushcraft, games, etc.
